Opinions and Beliefs

Image
People are individuals with their own thoughts and opinions but rarely grow up with their own beliefs.   We learn our beliefs from our family of origin.   Sometimes a person takes on beliefs different than their family of origin when they marry somebody with different beliefs or if in the process of changing their own life, they realized they had to choose a different path in order to grow and thrive.   It is important to question our beliefs every once in a while, or we can find ourselves in humiliating situations.   It is important to attempt to discern the difference between belief and opinion.   It is important to see how we are manipulated to act, see, do, buy, vote, based on someone else’s opinion or belief system.   It is important to note that scoffing, ridiculing, or bullying, falls into the category of manipulation.   If you bully me to say what you want me to say, you haven’t convinced me of anything other than my fear of you. ...

Having A Vision and What That Means

Everybody has a vision.   Some people know that they have a vision.   Some don’t.   Some people groom that vision and make it come true.   Some don’t. The people who don’t know they have a vision are the ones that you hear complain the most.   They look out and see what they don’t like and they make it important and discuss it and think on it, until it becomes their vision which brings more of those things to complain about into their sphere.   You will notice that sometimes they will actively look for more proof to egg on their complaints and this is how they accomplish their vision. Sometimes people who are making progress toward their vision, get caught in the loop of what is wrong in their life right now.   That can happen when a concerned friend or relative asks about their issue in a way that forces them to try to be honest if things aren’t going right.   That can also happen with the smashing impact of fear and wondering if that...

On Making Toilet Paper and Other Creative Projects

The crisis of 2020 that our world is in has stimulated a toilet paper shortage for many people.   I am not one of them but I do have a son with a wife and three daughter’s who were ecstatic over the stack of toilet paper and paper towels my sister Kari had brought me.   In our Zoom meeting they asked to see the house and that pile of paper was the most exclaimed over thing they saw. When I knocked a stack of egg cartons off of the fridge, I remembered that I had posted that I knew how to make my own paper so I wasn’t worried about the toilet paper shortage.   While in the Zoom meeting my son Kelly asked if I had made that toilet paper yet.   I realized that it is truly possible that people out there might really need a recipe for making toilet paper so I have begun the project.   I have made homemade paper twice so I understand the basics.   Of course, you have to have some old paper around to start with and for our tushes the only thing I can f...

Pandemic News and Why I don't Read it

Good morning everyone!  For me it is truly a good morning.  I have recently figured out that some of the people who spend a great deal of effort keeping me informed of the really terrible things in our world are people who believe they are doing me a favor.  They also believe that my elevator does not go to the top and that I am incapable of processing our dire circumstances.  This makes me laugh but lately I've taken to sharing more of how I really think. Instead of using my own limited words, I may post an article or a picture on Facebook that expresses my opinion at the moment.  I use the word opinion loosely.  I probably usually mean my belief system. I have been social distancing myself for a few years now and it has improved my self-talk, helped me to align with my dreams instead of being manipulated by the criticisms of other people, and it has encouraged me to allow my natural strengths and creativity to rise to the forefront of my mind rather tha...

SoulCollage® Facilitator!

I am officially a trained SoulCollage® facilitator as of March 1, 2020!   I would do the happy dance if it weren’t for my bunions. I was deeply immersed in the SoulCollage® facilitator course I took in Bellingham for four days.   It was one of the most heart-opening experiences of my life.     I completed all of the prerequisites plus a lot of extra study and made more cards than I already had and I was well prepared.   I fully embraced this precious experience.   The trainer modeled everything she was teaching and we weren’t being lectured.   We were experiencing what we want to give others.   I was the only one in the class who had never been to a live workshop before this training.   All of my experience has been on-line and through written material.   That is because there aren’t any active facilitators in this area.   I wasn’t the only one who got emotional but I believe it happened to me more often than the others. ...

What I am Proud of

Every meeting with my teacher, she asks one thing that I am proud of this week and one thing that I am grateful for. These things are not in the lesson.  They are simply what she does as we begin the session.  The first several times she did this, I was unprepared for the questions.  Finally, I snapped into realizing that she was always going to do this.  I started thinking on these questions at least 30 minutes prior to a meeting.  The result was that I forgot what the answers were by the time she asked them.  I began to write them down and was proud of myself for thinking of this.  Then I would lose the note.  It was a strange thing to find the note the next day or the day after but whenever I found it, I would replay the thing I was proud of and the thing I was grateful for.  If I did not toss the note I would find it again and again.  This has been very helpful in creating the habit of deliberate personal change because I FELT the ...

Dear Subscribers

Dear Subscribers and Followers, I laugh as I write this post to my single subscriber and my single follower on this date 1/26/2020.  You might ask what is so funny but since you are me, you know that you(I) are(am) the only subscriber to your(my) own blog.  I want to tell you that I am proud of you for staying in the practice, for holding the space for you and for others, for being here for you in this moment.  The more you are here for you, the more you value you actually have to share. I figured out how to research how many subscribers I have but have yet to find out exactly who they are.  I think that will become more clear once I have a subscriber other than myself.  I don't know why I find this humorous but I do. I am speaking to myself as if I am outside of me.  It is one of the techniques I use to save the space for myself.  All of the other people that I am writing to (that are not me), are also deep in the experience of their own lives....
